From my trip to Vienna a few weeks ago.  This is Belvedere palace, built by Prince Eugene of Savoy in the early 1700s.  Prince Eugene, originally from France, served the Austrian Empire.  He helped break the Turkish siege of Vienna in 1683, and later retook most of Hungary from the Turks.    One nice thing about winning, is you end up with a lot of money to build palaces like this one.

There are actually two palaces at the Belvedere, both surrounded with lovely gardens.  The photo above is the Upper Belvedere, which houses an art museum.  The museum holds a collection spanning many centuries, with its most famous work being “The Kiss” by Klimt.
