I shot this late in the afternoon on the Roaring Creek trail near Cameron Pass, Colorado.  I had my eye on this section of stream on the hike up, but I waited until the trip down for the light to dim.  Then I put on my polarizing filter to darken the scene even more- dark means slow shutter speeds, which gave me the effect I was looking for.  I shot a series of exposures so that I could use Photomatix later- this let me expose the water properly, while still getting shadow detail in the forest.
