Demonic Red Pepper

Technical Data: Canon Rebel XTi; Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM; f/2.8 at 1/13; ISO 200; Photomatix, Photoshop Elements.
We grew this pepper in our backyard garden. When I picked it to bring it in, it was green, but starting to turn red in various places. It gradually turned color, until I became convinced it would make a fun photo subject. I put up a sign to protect the pepper from interference:

When the time was right, I set up my rig and went to work. The image above was created by tone-mapping a raw image and boosting up the colors with Photomatix. That gave me a wild-looking pepper, but the bed sheet professional background cloth was a funky color as well. So I used Photoshop Elements to cut out the demonic evil pepper, and paste it back onto the original image.

Special Thanks to Baby Nate for being patient with the photography, as well as for putting up with the non-color-coordinated socks that Daddy made you wear.
