Aztec Ruins National Monument is a set of ruins in northern New Mexico. They were originally thought to be part of the Aztec civilization, but later correctly identified as Anasazi. Archeological evidence suggests that the center of Anasazi culture moved here (and from here to Mesa Verde) as Chaco declined. These ruins, while much smaller than Chaco, have been better restored.
