Calendar Photo of the Month- February 2015

Every year I put together a calendar of my favorite images of the year. I order a couple for me, and one for my friend Bill. This year, Bill asked for more information about each photo to give it some context. And thus was born a recurring series on this blog. Every month I’ll take the photo from that month’s calendar page and tell the story behind it.

Not every trip is an adventure.

This particular trip was a walk down the street to our local park. I was enjoying some time off between jobs so our family went to the park to play street hockey and play on the jungle gym. I brought along the camera to take pictures of Nate playing.

The short winter day drew to a close, and it was time to go home. The sideways light of sunset combined with skies black from an oncoming storm. And where those two converged- the spindly, fractal-like patterns formed by Cottonwood tree branches.
