Every year I put together a calendar of my favorite images of the year. I order a couple for me, and one for my friend Bill. This year, Bill asked for more information about each photo to give it some context. And thus was born a recurring series on this blog. Every month I’ll take the photo from that month’s calendar page and tell the story behind it.
This was another photo taken during Nate’s four-day October break. On our first full day there we decided to hike the Devil’s Garden trail. Nate was a trooper, making it almost all of the way to Double O Arch. This photo is of Partition Arch, about half-way in, and after climbing a scary fin of rock. This was taken with my widest angle lens at the widest setting- I had to wait a long time before the crowds left my range of vision!
