Calendar Photo of the Month- August 2016

Every year I put together a calendar of my favorite images from the previous year. Each month here on the blog, I’ll take the photo from that month’s calendar page and tell the story behind it.

This is another image from our trip to France, but this one was made with my Canon SLR.

During our stay in Saint-Malo, we took a day to explore the coast of Brittany. We headed out of town, bound for Sables-D’Or-Les-Pins in a steady drizzle. Once there, we headed up along the coast, eventually visiting Fort La Latte. To our surprise, the drizzle gave way to mixed clouds and then sunshine. There were lots of little beaches along the way, and we stopped at a few to let Nate cavort in the waves.

This photo is an HDR image of one of these beaches. Although unnatural, I like the way the sand seems to glow and the rocks and sky have an extravagant texture.

For those reading the story of Le Grand Voyage, this photo was taken on Day 30.
