When I’m working in Old Town, I usually take an afternoon walk to collect my photo of the day. This isn’t always the right idea, and recently I’ve started to wait a bit longer before my photographic wanderings. Old Town during the Christmas season is quite beautiful, and this shot after work one night became my favorite image of the week.

Fujifilm X-T2, Fujinon XF 18-55 f/2.8-4 R LM OIS at 21mm, f/4.5 at 1/60, ISO 6400.
Digital Darkroom. I started in the usual way, with adjustments to exposure and contrast. I lowered the blacks to help with an inky sky and really boosted the clarity. The shadow on the left side of the building was too dark for my liking, so I brightened it up with a graduated filter. I added a bit of sharpness and noise reduction- the ISO 6400 on my camera is impressive, but not perfect.
WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
