One of the projects that I’m working on in the background is a collection of images of lights. You’ve already seen a number of them this year, back in January Week 1 (“Red Ball of Lights”) and January Week 2 (“Spiral Lights”). This week’s lamp was on the wall outside of an office suite. It became my favorite image of the week.

Digital Darkroom. This photo took a surprising amount of work to get the effect that I wanted. First and most obviously, I converted to black and white, and played around with the color channels. For the wall and the the mounting bracket, I raised the contrast, clarity, and especially dehaze. This brought out the threaded textures in the bracket. This all made the light itself look horrible. I used a brush to move clarity and dehaze in the opposite direction, restoring a fuzzy glow.
WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
