Is there a better place to see a concert than Red Rocks? I don’t think so. The lights of the Denver basin spread out in front of you. On your left and right, glowing red rocks. Above you, only stars.
Add a refreshing breeze and good music, and it’s easy to see why this became my favorite image of the week.

Digital Darkroom. My goal here was to plunge the background into darkness while keeping the rock glowing. To this this I increased contrast, lowered highlights, and dramatically reduced the blacks. Handheld images at night are not the best conditions for an iPhone and there was noise to prove it. I increased noise reduction, and then tried increasing sharpening and clarity to bring back some detail.
WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
