At the end of the week I was heading out on a dual-trip- skiing in Steamboat Springs, followed by a conference in New Orleans. I spent the early afternoon packing, and then met Dorinna and Nate for coffee in Old Town. Nate had picked out and purchased a new pair of sunglasses and was wearing them everywhere (including indoors, of course). We got our coffees (Nate got a milk steamer), when I noticed that the glaze on Nate’s cup matched the color of his sweatshirt. I pulled out my phone, and for the first time ever, turned on portrait mode. This was my favorite image of the week.

Digital Darkroom. The iPhone X 🅂 portrait mode did extremely well here. It uses software processing to automatically blur the background, making it appear that the lens has a much smaller aperture than it does. I made tiny adjustments to exposure and contrast and I was done.
WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
