No Agenda Vacation Day 12 — Gunnison (August 17)

Scroll down to content

After the long afternoon drive over the spectacular Alpine Loop, we drove into the rainy town of Lake City. We changed our mind about camping, and thought that our fun day was done. We were wrong.

The drive from Lake City to Gunnison was super pretty, culminating in a double-rainbow over Blue Mesa Reservoir.

Once we checked into our hotel, we headed into town for dinner. When we got there, we found the main street closed to traffic for a car show. There was a long wait for a table at our restaurant, but we had a fun time enjoying a large collection of classic cars.

We had dinner at the High Alpine Brewing Company, a fun brewpub. Nice flight of beer and a great pizza. Now the day was complete!

This is a series of posts about what I have dubbed the “No Agenda Vacation” from August 2018. I’ll chronicle our 13-day road trip through the southern Colorado mountains with stories and photos. With luck you’ll see a new post on roughly a weekly basis.
