After the backpacking trip described in last week’s post, I spent the night in Twentynine Palms, the town just outside the north entrance of Joshua Tree National Park. It was a short stay, just long enough to visit my favorite post-hike Mexican restaurant, take a well-needed shower, and get a good night’s sleep. I awoke early the next morning to head for the airport and home. I was greeted with a spectacular sunrise to end my weekend and start my day. This became my favorite image of the week.

Digital Darkroom. Nothing too fancy with this one. Increased contrast, dehaze, and saturation, and lowered shadows a bit to darken the clouds further. I used the brush to paint the foreground and increase the exposure by almost a full stop.

WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
