This week I was back in California for work, and another busy week at that. I’ve fallen out of the habit of going on a daily photo walk (hmm, should do something about that), but I still managed a few shots. One was out the window of our break room, shooting at a blooming Jacaranda tree outside. The colors were just great, but the composition itself was a little plain. So I stepped into my digital darkroom, set the dial to “fun”, and went to work. This became my favorite image of the week.

Digital Darkroom. When I took this picture, my brain was thinking “painting,” and I specific idea in mind. I started there, using the Waterlogue app to convert my photo into a water color painting. From there, I pulled up the Tiny Planets app to spin the colors into a swirl. Are these apps gimmicks? Yes, of course they are. And sometimes art is about having fun, and sticking your tongue out at anyone who thinks otherwise. 😛 The original shot is below.

WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
