One of the side effects of growing up in New England is a lifetime obsession with the Boston Red Sox. Living out in Colorado, the TV is on most nights for at least an inning or two. This year, for the first time since 2013, the Red Sox were in town to play the Colorado Rockies. I went with the family on one night and with a friend on the second night, cheering on the Red Sox to victories on both occasions. Coors Field is a lovely ball park, especially at sunset, and this shot, from game two of the series, became my favorite image of the week.

Digital Darkroom. I started by cropping out the bottom of the frame, which had the stands and a vendor selling peanuts. After that all that required was some simple adjustments to contrast (+26), texture (+15), and dehaze (+14). In an effort to limit the blinding lights, I lowered highlights by -100. This resulted in a softer, more balanced image.
WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
