WIRR 2019, December Week 1

Sometimes you can travel to exotic far-away countries to find beautiful images. Other times, you can look down at your feet at your child’s school bus stop. On this cold December morning, frost covered tree branches, grass, and fallen leaves. This leaf on the sidewalk became my favorite image of the week.

Digital Darkroom. Only minor adjustments were needed. I increased the highlights to make the frost sparkle. I lowered the clarity of the entire image by -15 to soften the concrete, then used a brush on the leaf to restore (and enhance) the clarity there (+70), as well as give a slight exposure boost (+.5).

WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
