WIRR 2020, February Week 4

Scroll down to content

Near my office there is a building with a stucco exterior. There are no windows on the side of the building, just simulations of them- white paint instead of glass, wrapped with angular frames. I shot the corners on an afternoon walk, and this became my favorite image of the week.

Corners

Fujifilm X-T2, Fujinon XF 60 f/2.4 R Macro, f/5.6 at 1/220, ISO 200.

Digital Darkroom. I started with converting to black & white with Lightroom’s “B&W Yellow Filter” conversion. I lowered exposure by half a stop, but then boosted highlights (+75) to make sure the snow stayed bright. I raised contrast by +88 and then pushed up texture to +12 to bring out additional grain in the stucco.

WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
