This week we went on a family bike ride down the Spring Creek trail in Fort Collins. This sign caught my eye, and while I rode past it, I quickly decided to ride back and get the shot. For me, it was a helpful reminder in our difficult times, and it became my favorite image of the week.

Digital Darkroom. I knew when I shot this image that I wanted the background in black and white to help emphasize the message. It surprises some people that I never learned Photoshop. Adobe Lightroom is my editor of choice, and fulfills 98% of what I need a photo editor to do, so I rarely need Lightshop’s older brother. So when a need to use layer masks like I did here, I turn to Google’s Snapseed. Snapseed has some easy editing tools which let me convert the entire the image to black and white, and then remove the effect from the sign.

WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
