This weekend our family was in Old Town Fort Collins, waiting for an outside table at Ginger and Baker. This restaurant is housed in the old Northern Colorado Feeders Supply building, on the National Register of Historic Places. As a connection back to the farming history of the place, they have an old Chevrolet truck parked in the front. I went to work photographing the truck, and this became my favorite image of the week.

This photo was about two things- the white curves, and the black lettering. My editing was focused on emphasizing those two things. For the white, I boosted exposure by over a stop. For the black, I lowered blacks (-31) and then painted over each letter to individually lower their exposure. I initially liked the many specks of rust that marred the frame, but decided they detracted from the white curves, so I used the healing tool to remove most of them.
WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
