As the days get shorter and the nights get colder, the leaves turn and the flowers fade. One flower pot heroically soldiers on, and this became my favorite image of the week.

Digital Darkroom. I started with small adjustments to contrast, highlights, and texture. The central part of my processing, however, was a radial filter on the flower pot, reversed, and then used to lower saturation by -58. I wanted to mute the colors outside of the pot, while still leaving traces of them.

WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
