WIRR 2020, November Week 4

Scroll down to content

This week I took advantage of the warm weather to ride my bicycle. I rode up and over Horsetooth Mountain and down to Masonville. I set out north along Buckhorn road hoping to see where the fires had burned. I could see fire scars on the ridges, but never made it to the point where the Cameron Peak fire made it down to the road before I had to turn around. Just before turning around, I stopped to take a photo of the road and the curved rock layers, and this became my favorite image of the week.

Digital Darkroom. Nothing but simple edits on this one. I increased contrast and texture, and cropped out some of the featureless sky to put more emphasis on the road. I cleaned up a roadside bottle by brushing over it and desaturating the colors and I was done.

WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
