This week we actually got out of the house, and took a trip to Steamboat Springs. While take-out in a hotel room and peanut butter sandwiches wasn’t as much fun as a dinner in downtown or pot pies at Four Points, it was still worth it to get in a couple of fun days on the slopes. On Sunday, Nate and I stopped for lunch and ate our sandwiches in the sunshine at the side of a quiet trail. Above, a web of white aspens stood in stark contrast to the cobalt skies above. I took out my camera and this became my favorite image of the week.

Digital Darkroom. I only made minor adjustments to this image. I raised highlights and lowered shadows, increased texture, and increased dehaze. This was all in service of bringing out additional contrast between the branches and the sky.
WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
