We had a restful morning after a restful evening at Burro Bridge Campground. Russ, the campground host, was great.
Getting into gear, we headed out to Ophir Pass, a 4WD road that connects the valleys of Telluride and Ouray. The road was not technically difficult, but it was quite narrow. Based on the debris, the drop below was more than enough to destroy our vehicle and us along with it.

At the top, we headed out for a short hike to Crystal Lake. Only 3/4 of a mile, there was no real trail. The path up the steep talus was easy enough to follow, and great views awaited us on top.

We made a last minute hotel reservation in Gunnison, and enjoyed the nice drive. We ended the day with drinks and dinner at the always excellent Garlic Mike’s.

Alas, the next day was the drive home and the end of our mini-San Juan Mountain vacation.
