On the last day of our Snowy Range backpack, I shot this image of The Gap, the narrow pass between Browns Peak and Medicine Bow Peak. This became my favorite image of the week.

The Gap

Digital Darkroom. I started with Fujifilm’s Classic Chrome profile. This is reminiscent of another old favorite, Kodachrome slide film. It brings back the feel of late 20th century National Geographic photos. I increased exposures slightly, and then made my usual landscape corrections- increase contrast, shadows, and clarity; decrease highlights. I did increase whites to bring out the brightness on the snow patches. I finished by applying a brush over the sky to lower highlights and exposure.
WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
