We were eating breakfast in a small cafe in Centennial, Wyoming when we came across this funny sign, a twist on the usual “ray of sunshine” motif. This became my favorite image of the week.

Digital Darkroom. I was aiming for a bit of a “noir” feel for this image, kind of a washed-out Addams family kind of look. Black and white was essential. I started with the Modern 05 profile in Lightroom, and then increased contrast and highlights, and lowered shadows. I created a mask of everything except the sign, and lowered exposure and highlights. This put more emphasis on the sign and its sarcastic message.
WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
