Spring had arrived. We wanted to do a family hike, and I wanted to take a bike ride, so I combined the two. I rode my bike to the Environmental Learning Center, where I met the family for a hike. We walked on the trails, seeing both wild turkeys and a red-tailed hawk. The hawk patiently allowed me to take a photo and this became my favorite image of the week.

Digital Darkroom. I started the processing with a switch to Velvia and a big crop. I made some minor adjustments, lowering exposure, highlights and whites, and increasing contrast. I created a mask over the hawk to increase shadow and clarity.
WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
