This week brought us to the Denver Art Museum, which had a current expedition on medieval armor. After cataloging the different kinds of armor over the ages, they ended the exhibit with Din Djarin’s helmet from The Mandalorian. Unlike the other parts of the exhibit, I could photograph this against an uncluttered background, and this became my favorite image of the week. This is the way.

Digital Darkroom. In post-processing, I wanted to focus on the texture of the metal. Highlights were fine, but I wanted to remove any excess “glitter” from the image. I achieved this by increasing contrast (+21), shadows (+35), and whites (+13), while lowering highlights (-16) and blacks (-22). I boosted clarity (+26) to bring out additional texture. I played around with black and white, but I liked the way the yellow brought out some golden hues in the metal. I have spoken.
Posting this slightly out of order, to match up with Star Wars day. May the Fourth be With You!
WIRR stands for Weekly Image Rich Ruh. This regular feature on Das Has von Ruh will show and describe my favorite photo created during this weekly period. My weeks start on Mondays, as does the WIRR. I’m hoping to include commentary on the story, the setting, the specs, or the sentiments, depending on the circumstances.
